Need help finding a plus size wedding dress that’s NOT strapless?

plus size corsets
2XtremeAngel аѕkеԁ:

Being plus size I hаνе very large breasts (46G) Strapless іѕ nοt аn option. Thеу јυѕt don’t mаkе a bra thаt wіƖƖ hold thеm up. Even аt prom whеn thеу wеrе οnƖу a DD thе waist length strapless bra kept collapsing under mу dress. Eνеrу wedding gown I see іѕ strapless, even аƖƖ thе plus sizes. Personally, I hаtе mу arms ѕο ѕhοwіnɡ οff аƖƖ mу fаt іn a strapless regardless οf mу bra issue isn’t gonna fƖу. Anyone еƖѕе having thіѕ issue? Please hеƖр. If thе details matter: 10/30/10 wedding. A custom corset isn’t аn option. I don’t hаνе thаt kind οf money & I don’t want tο hаνе tο enlist thе hеƖр οf several people tο ɡеt mе іn & out.

Actually the plus size collection on the David’s Bridal website has several gowns with straps. I am having a similar problem for a different event. Try

if you find something you like maybe a different store in your area can get something similar.

    Best of luck.

I hate David’s Bridal but I know they do have larger sizes. You could order a size that would hold your girls in and alter the rest down. They have a lot of halter and capsleeve dresses. You could also add straps to a strapless dress easily. You could add nice wide supportive straps to almost any dress, make sure you ask about those types of options. Or, have a dress made, not a corset. My mom’s wedding gowns go from $35 to $200 depending on the style and fabric the bride chooses. Then you would have a custom fit and it could provide as much or little coverage as you want/need.

    Good luck!

You can always have straps added to a dress to cover your bra, it is a pretty inexpensive alteration. Or just so long as you remember not to take it off you could wear a jacket that would cover your arms and the bra straps. I think both would be best so that if you do take the jacket off for a minute people won’t see your bra.

There are not a ton of dresses out there with actual sleeves on them that don’t look straight out of the 80′s, which I imagine is not what you want.

Alfred Angelo makes some nice styles in plus sizes. A lot of them are strapless but there are quite a few that aren’t. Check them out at. I’m pretty broad shouldered and hate showing my arms.I went with a dress with cap sleeves. My arms were still exposed but the broader line of the sleeve was so flattering. Nothing like a strapless or spaghetti strap.

Almost any place carries, or will at least alter, a dress to have straps. Try looking for a dress that you like then seeing if you can get sleeves added to it. If you are looking for something that will actually cover your arms, it will be a bit harder, but still doable. Just look around online and go to/call bridal shops and ask what they can do for you.

I am like you, plus sized, with large breasts. I tried on many strapless ones at David’s Bridal and most of them fit well and held me in very well. My breasts are larger than yours so I’m sure you would find some to work for you. I ended up getting a halter even though I too hate my arms and have never liked halters in general. But the dress looks good, holds me well and was in my price range.

Please don’t go to David’s! I warn everyone against it. My best friend (we are both bigger girls) ordered her dress from there, she wanted a 24, they told her to get a 26, she said NO I want a 24, they ended up ordering her a 22 then when it didn’t fit, they said it was because she gained a lot of weight! I was so pissed. And when her Mom called and demanded they get her the right size, they said it was too late and she had to take the one they had in the store which was a 26. It was too big so she had to alter it and David’s said she had to do the alterations there or they wouldn’t sell it to her, she didn’t have time to go anywhere else so she ended up taking it there and they charged her $600… it was ridiculous! If you go to a legit bridal shop, the people that work there will be able to find what you are looking for and suggest dresses that look good on your body type. If you really want to look at stuff on-line I would check out Alfred Angelo. They have great Plus Size dresses with optional straps and they have super cute little jackets or sleeves to add on to your dress (Plus they aren’t super expensive!). Check out the website:
