that’s a beautiful dress!
The lacing on that particular design looks as though it is mostly there for decoration and you would probably find a zipper in the side seam for function.
Have you tried any dresses on? Go to a rental place and try a few styles on to experiment with how each style makes you look and feel
If, after you’ve tried a few, you love the styles similar to the one in the website, then buy that one – get the dress of your dreams…. but you will likely need to wear a corset underneath, as you will need the extra support.
Sometimes the dress of your dreams takes a little extra – but it is so worth the effort!
Yes I tried just about everything there was to try on. LOL! I love corset backs and they would offer just as much support if not more. Plus they are almost like a self altering dress as my alterations specialist once said. If it gets a little too tight or too loose you always have the option of pulling the laces in tighter or loosening them! I am very busty as well and didn’t have any problems when I was trying them on. The main thing to be concerned about is getting a proper bustier to support you. Larger chested women and basically anyone above a B cup should wear a bustier or bra of some types as dresses are not made to hold them up. If you don’t have your bustier yet, I would check David’s Bridal. I absolutely hate that place and would not recommend them for anything but I bought mine (bustier) online from their site. I checked local department stores first and none carried anything over a C cup. Good Luck and just remember get the proper undergarments!
I didn’t, but what’s the harm in trying one on? You’ll know right away if you’re comfortable in it. Call a place like David’s Bridal and make an appointment to try some dresses. When you do, ask them to include a corset back option. Take a couple of people with you that you KNOW will give you their honest opinion.
You will have a corset under it so it won’t matter. It is absolutely beautiful! The dress will be snug and the alterations will make sure it is. I am the same way as you and have a large chest. I had no issues trying these types on.
I have the same body type. I didn’t really feel as secure in the corset style dresses. I would strongly recommend you just try several on. There are a few different types of corsets, and it will also depend on who is doing the lacing up. You could always ask them to make it tighter.
I tried on a few they just did not feel right i guess you could say. Being in a DD bra i just did not feel supported enough. They tend to sag and feel like they would fall out. But the best thing to do is go your self and get a feel for it. Everybody is different and they might be just fine for you. good luck with your dress hunt.
Of all the dresses I have seen that is the most beautiful. Since you are heavy breasted deep down you already know the answer. Buy a proper undergarment–the lady at the bridal store can help you and make sure the dress and undergarments are not too tight or you will look like you have four breasts-2 in the dress and 2 hanging over the top. The short answer is yes you can wear this dress with the proper underwear.
The dress is very elegant. I’m plus also, and have tried on the gown. I was very happy with the corset back. It actually gave me more support than the zip up. I would choose the one with the cap sleeves as it gives more support and give you a more confident feel. I cringe when I see ladies wearing strapless and are constantly pulling up or tugging on the dress.
Go for the dress, you will know when you put it on if this is the dress for you. Really nice.
i’m a busty, heavy chested, plus size gal – whatever the current phrase is and i swear to you that as long as you have the best undergarments that you can have, with lots of support this gown will look gorgeous!
many woman think about the outer clothing, the gown, and not about the foundation garments and that is really where you should spend some money to ensure you have the best fit you can have! there is no sense buying a gown worth thousands and then being too cheap to purchase a good quality bra – i spend minimum one hundred dollars on a well-constructed bra and it is worth every penny. a good bra will eliminate back strain, sore shoulders, bulgey bits of you at the top and sides of your bra. find a good shop and stick with them! they will be your best friend!
good luck happy wedding and the dress is beautiful!
I am a size 16, 42DD bride to be and my dress has a lace up/corset back… It actually fits better than the zip up ones I tried on. It holds with great support and contours to my curves much better. That’s a beautiful dress and I think you should try it on…You might be surprised how good it fits.
I didn’t get a corset dress, so, because of the size of my chest I had to get a dress that was two sizes bigger then if I would have gotten a corset dress! OUCH!!!! The dress you posted is beautiful. I almost chose a dress from them as well, but was unsure about the whole “buying it before I try it on” thing. Good luck to you!
I tried on a few with lace up backs at David’s. I thought it was pretty comfortable, and felt pretty well supported. Although when I tried it on I was in a B cup. I’m pregnant now, almost in a D cup and don’t know how it would work with the extra weight on the chest.
Wow! What a beautiful dress hun!!
Mine also laced up in the back, but it had straps. I am not sure about the support it would provide for busty women (I have NO boobs!! …..you can come donate to the needy (me)!! LOL) I think the best way to figure this out is to go try on a few dresses and walk around a bit in them to see how they feel. If you are uncomfortable, or feel like you are going to burst out of the top, then even if it is pretty, I would try a different one. I am saying this because I squeezed into mine, and I got married in August, so I was HOT, and on top of that I couldn’t breathe…lol. All I thought about is how bad I wanted to get out of that dress!! lol. (of course my hubby had no complaints…hehe) You want the day to be all around enjoyable, so look for comfort as well as beauty (Of course the two seldom go together…lol)
Good luck!!
CONGRATS on the marriage
I have BIG boobs for my small frame. I find that the only dress I can wear without alterations is a corset dress. I’m only five foot (even) but I have 36D boobs. I tried on many dress for my first formal and found that I would have to alter the hips down 1-2 dress sizes! Luckliy, the owner of the dress shop pulled out a corset top. It fit beautifully. And I found no problem with support even until 2am dancing!
I’ve had lace up for every prom and now for my wedding.
I promise it’ll be just fine. It’s never failed me yet!
If you are sitll worried about support try these:
