Awkwardly sized.where to find swimsuits?

Jamie asked:

I have very small hips (last time I measured, they were 33 and a half inches around) but am a bit busty on top (I normally wear a 32D or 30DD bra size). I’ve always had trouble finding well-fitting swimsuits for a reasonable price. If the bottoms it, then I’m busting out of the top; if the top fits, then the bottoms barely stay on. I usually end up buying a large top and a XS or XXS bottom, but the top doesn’t fit quite right because I’m so skinny and I often have to adjust it to keep it from falling off. I’ve decided to start my swimsuit shopping early this year in order to save money seeing as most swimsuits are cheaper around now, however I’m having a lot of trouble finding a store that carries both bottoms and tops that fit me well. What is a good store/brand for me to try (both in-store and online will work)?

Please don’t reply unless you or someone you know has experience in this area. No rude remarks or saying how I can’t possibly be this size; I am, and naturally at that.
Forgot to say…I usually wear a size 00P in pants. I often end up wearing a size 14 in kids, though.
As I’ve said before, I usually buy differently sized tops and bottoms, but the large top still doesn’t quite fit me right. Could this be because I usually shop at stores like WalMart and Target? Are the swimsuits there not as good as swimsuits from higher end department stores?

Cali Surfer Girl, I weigh 105 pounds and am 5′1″ tall. My BMI is healthy. I do NOT need to lose or gain weight.

Thanks to the rest of you who have answered so far.
Edward, please read the entire question before you attempt to answer it.

Besides, you shouldn’t be answering this question anyway…unless, of course, you recently got a *** change.

Most swimsuits pieces are bought separately. If you go to a department store or Pacsun, you can pick a large top and small bottom, but it does cost over $25 for each piece.

You need to either gain or lose weight. Depends on what look you want.

Try Dehlias, Kohls, Old Navy, or a department store like Macys. They sell separates that are great when your body parts aren’t all the same size. I would recommend a nice halter bikini top with matching bikini bottoms. It will be easiest to fit bikini tops because all they cover is the chest, and if they tie then they are easy to adjust. Try this one:

Old Navy is great because they have all different mix n’ match patterns. Macys is great because they have all different brands, so if one designer doesn’t fit great, there’s other choices. Dehlias is good too, but I would still go with Old Navy for price.

    I hope I helped! Good luck ( :

why dont you mix and match the sizes and get an xs bottom and L or XL top? try hollister, abercrombie, pacsun, ae, etc. I know their pieces are sold seperatley

go somewhere where they sale mix and match swimsuite pieces.

that way you can fit the top and bottom, they are more expensive, but store like JcPenney’s have great sales, and if you wait a few more months, you will be able to get a great swimsuit that isn’t really expensive

CALIFORNIA SUNSHINE is increadible. they make the bathing suit tops in bra sizes and of course you can get dif sized tops and bottoms. Kind of expensive though.
Also victoria secret online sells it by the bra size. I completely understand this situation and these two have been great for me. Good luck!

I feel your pain, my hips are a 37 and I’m a 34DDD. I buy separate like you do, and I usually just hit every department store in sight. I recommend going for generic colours in case you find an amazing top in Macy’s and a perfect bottom in JC Penney’s.

I’m getting a consult for a ****** reduction soon. I tried working out/dieting, in 6 months I lost 5lb (~10lb off my figure, but gained muscle mass) and gained a cup size. So it isn’t my diet or anything. I’m 18, and I hit puberty around 13. Hopefully this’ll fix my busty problem. :)

I don’t know where the hell you shop but bathing suit pieces are bought separately so you can get an XXS bottom and a M-L top.
